Household Maintenance That Will Save You $$$ As you prepare to bring in 2008 with some personal and business resolutions don't forget some easy things you can do to save money around your home. * Preventative Maintainance for drains. Once a month pour 2 cups white vinager or 1/4 cup (drain mix) to 2 cups boiling water then flush down with hot water. To make a batch of drain mix use: 1 cup baking soda, 1 cup salt and 1/4 cup cream of tarter. Store mix in jar for monthly use. * Replace your heating system filter monthly * Clean the filter in your stove hood * Clean or check the humidifier filter * Install fire extinguisher in kitchen * Run gallon of white vinger in clothers washer and dishwater to remove soap scum and mineral deposits * Check for leaky or dripping faucets and toilets- these can cost gallons of wasted water that you're paying for monthly. * Take a caulking tour checking the health of seal around your tub, sinks, toilet to floor, etc.
