Care for Lingerie
One of my most telling "exhibits" at bra parties is a bra that a customer put in the dryer. It is "melted" and the underwires came out because they heated up and melted the fabric around them.
Most bras today are made of synthetic fabric such as tactel. This gives it breathability and moldability for the best fit and comfort. Ease of laundering is not the top priority. If you take good care of your bras, they should last for about one year.
The good news is that bras do not need to be washed every time you wear them. If you rotate your bra (wear one day, rest two days) then you should be able to wear it 3-4 times before washing them. This practice will greatly extend the life of your bras.
The best way to wash a bra is by hand using a lingerie wash. Do not use Woolite. Woolite is for wool and natural fibers, not synthetics. It will cause your bra to smell like a skunk over time! I strongly recommend Essential Bodywear wash, which is available at my EBW website, http://www.myessentialbodywear.com/glamourbylbd. Once it is washed, hang it from the center of the bra (not the straps!!!) to dry or lay it flat on a counter or drying rack.
Is this too much for your busy life? The second good option is to machine wash on gentle cycle using a laundry bag. These are also available on my site. And again, hang it from the center of the bra or lay it flat to dry.
A good bra is essential to looking your best. Caring for it properly will ensure that you will get the most for your money
